A Few "Oldies" but Goodies

It’s the weekend and so it’s time for me to give y’all as many possible show recommendations as I can for your upcoming binges. Since Stranger Things came out last week (was it last week?! I’m still recovering from that), I looked back at some old blog notes from years ago that I never posted. Take a look below and let me know what you think of these oldies but goodies! A TINY BIT OF SPOILERS BELOW AS I DESCRIBE THE SHOWS—-BUT NOTHING MAJOR! Just a synopsis! ENJOY!

Quantico is a great show with a fresh (and very attractive) cast. The series takes place present day and follows the lives of different FBI trainees as they go through their education at Quantico. It’s not that simple, though. The show switches back and forth between the students time at the academy and present day where Alex Parish is framed for a Grand Central terrorist bombing. The point of the show is to go back and forth, investigating each student and seeing if there are any signs as to who the person who framed her is. Since the FBI is told to shoot Alex on site if they find her, she goes on the run and enlists in the help of some of her old classmates that believe that she is in fact innocent.

Limitless is a television series that essentially picks up where the movie Limitless starring Bradley Cooper left off. In the show, lead actor Bryan (remember him from that show Greek?!) stumbles upon the drug NZT after his old friend tells him it’ll change his life and has him try it. Bryan is kind of a loser—college dropout, can’t keep a relationship, his family is constantly disappointed by him, he’s lazy, and has no real prospects. When on NZT, he of course is the total opposite because the drug activates every part of your brain at once. Bryan is approached by Bradley Cooper (I bet that scene was expensive) and is told that he will die from the side effects of NZT withdrawal, but that they will keep supplying him with it if he works for the FBI as a consultant. Bradley Cooper has found a way to keep the side effects at bay in the form of an injection, which he promises to give to Bryan in return for intel from the FBI. How does he get into the FBI? He pretends to be the only person that has ever been immune from the NZT side effects, so the FBI figures they can use him as an asset while being able to keep an eye on him. The show is filled with humor, blackmail, plenty of drama, action, and more, and I highly recommend it! Plus, Deborah Morgan — sorry, I will always call her that and know her as that from Dexter, she plays the main agent, and it’s so nice to see her in another role even though Dexter is over! Plus— another character from Dexter is also in it, and plays her boyfriend! Ha! I love spotting actors from other shows and seeing their new roles in these fall series.

Blood and Oil

This one definitely ranks toward the top. It’s a sexy, dangerous, thrilling, adventurous, drama-filled show. Plus, I think it was casted perfectly. First of all, I love seeing Scott Michael Foster in a new role because I miss getting to see him on Chasing Life (which was canceled and I’m still upset about it!! side note: many believed they killed off his character because he told them he needed to focus on Blood and Oil…but much speculation with that). ALSO…Scott Michael Foster also plays the character of CAPPIE in GREEK. See blogs below for more about him!
