One form of self-care (my favorite) during this time is of course getting lost in TV shows. Most of you are quarantining, social distancing, so you’re going to be having some more time on your hands than before. Because of all of this, I wanted to create a list of some shows that might be able to bring you some comfort during this time. These are the kind of shows you can choose to pay close attention to, or not!
A closer look at some of Netflix’s scarier (but not too scary!) shows such as Dracula, Locke & Key, and October Faction…
Whether you’re staying in alone, enjoying the night with a significant other, are married and excited to stay in together, or you are celebrating with the whole family, I’ve rounded up some great recommendations for what to binge tonight! Bring on alll the chocolate and enjoy Lost in Space, Locke & Key, Dirty John, Flack, & Younger.
The Stranger: an 8 episode anxiety-inducing mystery thriller adapted from Harlan Coben’s novel (also titled 'The Stranger')…
A spoiler filled review of Season Three of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina takes a look at power struggles, delightful witchiness, battles to win the throne of Hell, and of course cheerleading tryouts and boy trouble on the side…
Netflix’s new show, ‘Cheer’, is a six part docuseries following the nationally ranked Navarro College Bulldogs Cheer team from Corsicana, Texas led by their fierce coach, Monica Aldama. Trust me, I did not expect to get into this show or like it as much as I did…
It wasn’t until the show picked back up this January that they really went deep into how bad Randall’s anxiety really is. There was a time where we saw him have a breakdown at his old job and it got to be too much for him, but something about how his anxiety was portrayed this season just felt …
“YOU” follows the story of Joe Goldberg, a guy with a troubled past that is desperate to love someone, and in doing so he stalks them, steals their things, follows them, reads their phone messages, infiltrates their lives completely…
I almost want to say that the show is like a work of art because you are so fascinated with watching the beauty of it that you forget you actually need to pay attention to what happens to the storyline.
This show is a great comfort show, it’s a little bit Hallmark-y, a little Gilmore Girls-y with the small town feel where everyone knows each other. It even throws in a little danger with a group of people that…
Season 3 kicks off with Maisel opening for famous singer Shy Baldwin. This is her first big break as she gets to tour the country with him by performing her standup comedy routines…
I chose the following shows for two reasons: one, they’re all primetime tv shows meaning that they’re appropriate to watch around family with no awkward moments or scenes, and secondly because they just had their fall finales last week so this gives you some time before January to catch up before they return.
Veronica plays the daughter of a Private Investigator, and essentially works alongside her dad even though she’s only in high school, dedicating her time to learning all about the life of a P.I. Flash forward years later (to this revival series), and now she’s back to the town of Neptune
This show takes place in a small town in Florida in the early 1990s. Dundst plays a minimum wage employee named Krystal, who is looking for a better life. The first two episodes are out now, and they are hilarious--I can’t wait for more! Think—sleezy life coaches in pyramid schemes.
Trust me, the shows I’ve listed below are guaranteed to keep you entertained while avoiding that potential embarrassment (AKA they are SFT “Safe for Travel”). If you’re looking for a show that is going to keep you absolutely glued to your screen, the ones I’ve listed below may not be for you. However, you’re traveling, remember? You want to be able to…
I know it’s only been a little over a year since season 2 of 13 Reasons Why was released, but as usual, I had already forgotten a lot of what happened. Thankfully, Netflix gives a great recap at the beginning of season 3 to get you caught up. As we all know now, the main theme of this season and question on everyone’s mind is…
Sundays are great because if you didn’t get to binge most of the weekend like I usually do, this is your chance to do so before Monday rolls around. My main focus is usually on what Netflix has released that past Friday since…
Let’s discuss the latest revival of The Hills: New Beginnings. I. AM. SO. HAPPY. TO. SEE. THAT. ALMOST. EVERYONE. IS. THE. SAME. I still remember watching the finale of that season, my senior year of college with some friends in my tiny studio apartment, and wondering what would ever happen to them. Some of them grew up, some of them didn’t. Most didn’t but…
It’s Monday! No one likes Mondays but I’m about to give you some reasons to look forward to them. I know these shows cater more to a female audience, but that doesn’t mean you can’t force your significant other if he’s a guy, to watch them with you, haha. (Although, my husband would probably not speak to me if I forced him to watch the following…)
It’s the weekend and so it’s time for me to give y’all as many possible show recommendations as I can for your upcoming binges. Since Stranger Things came out last week (was it last week?! I’m still recovering from that), I looked back at some old blog notes from years ago that I never posted. Take a look below and let me know what you think of these oldies but goodies!
GREEK (Hulu)
Desperate Housewives (Hulu)
Gilmore Girls (Netflix)
Parenthood (Netflix)
The Good Witch (Netflix)
The Fosters (Netflix)
The much awaited season 3 of Stranger Things just premiered on the Fourth of July. I don’t know what your plans were, but mine were to be attached to my iPad all day. One, because we were driving to visit family and had the time, and two, because I was way too terrified to watch it on any screen bigger than an iPad. I kid you not, I was even watching on my phone on the way to Fourth of July fireworks. I have issues.
If you haven’t watched GREEK yet, you need too. I watched it when it first came out years ago, then watched it again, and as we got closer to the ATX Television festival, I started rewatching it for a third time. It’s one of those shows where you can pay attention the whole time, or you can just let it play in the background.
I went to the Euphoria’s premiere hosted by HBO with the main cast members and the writer/creator doing a Q&A following the showing. It took place at the Paramount theater in downtown Austin which is absolutely beautiful.
It’s been about a week since the ATX Television festival started, and I have SO much to talk about!! I’ve been to this festival twice in the past so this was my third year going, and their eighth year putting it on. I just happen to be lucky enough to live in Austin Texas where it was all taking place. This was also the first time witnessing a couple actual fan freak outs (like this one guy that was so in love with Zendaya he ran up to the microphone after the premiere of the first episode of HBO’s Euphoria and begged her to go on an ice cream date with him). Don’t get me wrong, I had my own fan freak outs, I just have them more internally.
Lucifer holds a special place in my heart. Okay, not the actual devil obviously, but this show. Okay and the actor that plays Lucifer (that accent!!). Seasons 1-3 gave us a weirdly comforting show. You wouldn’t think a show about the Devil could be comforting. But he is just so charming, and he has a good heart, promise! Plus, it was one of those shows that you could just jump in whenever if you wanted to, because there was a different crime to solve every episode.
Spoiler-free review of Netflix’s What/If
This past Friday, one of my favorite days of the week, I got a chance to binge Netflix’s newest original series, What/If. I love Fridays not just because it means it’s the weekend, but because Netflix always dazzles us with a new movie or, my personal favorite, a Netflix original series worthy of a binge. They released a 10 hour limited series (I love how they always say limited series, like no, you are definitely going to get people obsessed and ask for more seasons just like you did with Big Little Lies). The series stars Renee Zellweger (woah! Where has she been hello), who plays an evil venture capitalist named Anne. To be honest, this whole thing reminds me of the movie from 1993, Indecent Proposal.
Cancel your plans, because I give you permission to do absolutely nothing this weekend but watch these shows on Netflix.
